MotoGP 06
A first impression by MatrixMaul
Let’s get one thing straight: I don’t like racing Sims. I hated Gran Turismo and PGR was never my cup of tea. I just want a game that lets me destroy everything in my way. Realism isn’t that high on my list of priorities in games. I like explosions, I like fast cars that never need oil changes and I need aliens or monsters somewhere in there too.
But then I played MotoGp 06…Dear God how wrong I was.
MotoGP 06 has so many good points to it: It’s a little scary. The graphics are spectacular as well as the controls. After wiping out the twenty third time: I fell in love. The tracking camera follows the journey of you and your bike going opposite directions and eating all the dirt in the process.
In game soundtracks fit the game all too well. It could be that any form of music is fun to race to. At anytime I can put on Motion City Soundtrack, AFI, Led Zeppelin, and Dido…I mean….Queens of the Stone Age…while I take shots of tequila.
The sensitivity and realism really plays a big role in MotoGP, forcing me to, for once in my life, press the brakes are slow down on turns.
The physics are all on the level. Falling off your bike means doing a couple flips and having your bike do a few spins as well. It all seems proportional to real life.
AI is impressive. I found myself really getting angry at the racers passing me up and how well they handled the turns are terrain.
The environments have nothing too much to report on. A normal racing track with sand and grass on the outside to slow down those who go outside of the boundaries is very fitting in the game.
I was really shocked by how much I liked this game, seeing as how I never played any of its predecessors. It’s going to be something wild to be racing against my pals over Xbox live when the full game is released next week.
Pros: graphics, controls and physics: stunning.
Cons: Not out yet.
Final verdict: A+
Buy this game when it comes out…or at least borrow it from your rich friend when he gets it...and then act like he never bought a copy.
