MX Superfly featuring Ricky Carmichael Box art Its been a while now since MX Superfly made its appearance on the xbox but the game still holds its own. A big action sports fan will have a blast with this game with features like freesyle, racing, and all kinds of other fun little mini games. Not too mention its xbox live abaility. Ive played pretty much every mx game there is on ps2 and xbox and this one definitly falls in that top 10 catagory. This game has alot of top pros in it like Ricky Carmiceal an unstopable force in the supercross and motocross world, as well as many of the top pro freestyle riders that entertain us on ESPN and lots of other networks. MX Superfly will give hours upon hours of fun and you wont even get hurt doing it. Going back too xbox live, there will be the ability too download new content for this game such as skins and tracks. This alone makes this game a hit in the fact that it wont get old too you as quick. I recomend this game too any action sports fan and anyone that just like too act crazy on motorized vehicles.

Basically, there are two main modes of play, both within the Career option ? Freestyle and Race. Each has you progressing through 125cc and 250cc classes, and are very tough at first. Basically, you start out as an amateur and need to earn money to compete in the higher classes. To earn money, players play through much needed tutorials and events. Once enough cash has been earned, it is possible to advance to the next class, say the 125cc season. Race through the season and finish with a rank of third or better and you get to advance to the next class. But,
you?ll need to earn more money to compete in the next class, so prepare for more tutorials (there aren?t many) and tougher events. All in all, this system works well, motivating the player to learn new techniques and practice before racing in the season. For some added replay value, MX Superfly boasts a multitude of mini-games, which can be played with a friend (not four?). Only three are available at the start, and the rest must be unlocked via the Freestyle Career mode. They are relatively fun, but I felt that they were pretty basic and shallow. Still, they do offer some entertainment, especially when with a friend. Most deal with delivering things, such as pizza and gas, while others deal with making huge jumps. Others are a little more imaginative, such as golf and polo on motorcycles. All in all, a nice distraction from the Career mode. There is also a track editor. The editor is very simple, yet allows much freedom for the player. There are many objects (barriers, ramps, platforms?) and three arenas for tracks to be created in (including a spaceship which must be unlocked).

MX Superfly has great visuals that define a next-generation title. The game boasts well- rounded, smooth visuals as well as an impressive draw distance. Riders look great, and so do the tracks, complete with sharp textures and smooth edgeing. The
most significant point about the graphics is the steady frame rate. Even with eight riders on screen, the game does not stutter too much ? yes, there is the occasional slowdown, but it isn?t very noticeable. Some textures are also very ugly, but only up-close (due to a crash). Also, in multiplayer the game runs slower than in single player, but this is only a minor quibble. You might notice a small glitch here and there but good luck finding one. I found that this game lacked in some features on the animation side. Would have been cool too have better shadow rendering and some moving animations here and there. But you can?t have it all. As a whole, MX Superfly is a joy to look at. You will be having too much fun too pay attention too detail enough too find any major glitches.

MX Superfly has pretty much average sound for a game of its type.
The game is packed with a great sound track from some of today?s top artists from rock, punk, hiphop and you name it. The announcer is not so problematic in MX Superfly than other games, mainly because he only introduces tracks, and talks at the end of each race. Still, his tone is all wrong. He doesn?t sound like a hyped up moto announcer at all. He should sound like the guys announcing for the Xgames, but he doesn?t. He sounds more like my gym teacher from high school.
A more significant problem with the audio is the engine sounds. When riding alone, it is all too obvious that the sounds are pieced together, say one sound for accelerating, one for climbing a hill, etc. The problem is that at times there is no sound at all ? these moments last for seconds at a time. When racing, though, it is not noticeable. The racing sounds are the best it gets. I must point out that it doesn?t make the game a bore too play by no means so don?t worry mates!

Suggestions:
work on your audio, Bring your tracks and surrounding too life. And always remeber the more realistic the bike feels the better. Making the bike feel like it would in real life can be the most important factor in developing any MX game.
