Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain News

Hideo Kojima is on the outs with Konami, will depart after MGS5PP
It’s looking like the end of an era. Is it possible that Kojima has simply become too big for Konami to handle?

Konami drops MGS V: Ground Zeroes next-gen prices, sort of
You complained, and Konami listened, sort of. Both physical and digital copies of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes on next-gen will be $10 cheaper, but a price gulf still remains between the next-gen and current-gen digital prices.

Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes dated, Raiden mission is Xbox exclusive
Well, the secret’s out. We can expect to get our hands on Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes in March (reports say March 18th to be exact), and while Playstation will be getting Blocky Snake, we’ll be getting the much cooler Raiden "Jamais Vu" mission.

Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes also getting exclusive content on Xbox
After hearing that the PS3 and PS4 versions of Ground Zeroes will be getting a classic, low-res version of Snake to sneak around the game with, Xbox owning Metal Gear fans felt left out. Not anymore! Kojima’s promised us some Xbox love as well.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes releasing in Spring 2014, gets priced
However, in true Kojima fashion, there’s still some confusion, as the Xbox One and PS4 digital versions will cost the same as the retail versions but will cost $10 more than the Xbox 360 and PS3 digital versions.

Kojima: MGS V will revisit torture, but it won't be playable this time
Anyone who played the original Metal Gear Solid in its day remembers how eerie the infamous torture scene was, and how high the stakes were if you failed. Wary of this, Hideo Kojima doesn’t plan to put the player in the same position again in MGS V.

E313: Metal Gear Online will return alongside V
Metal Gear fans who played MGS 4 when it first launched on PS3 may remember that it came bundled with an online multiplayer component called Metal Gear Online, which was eventually sold as a separate game. Well, it’s coming back! Cardboard box ready!

E313: Metal Gear Solid V will have fewer cutscenes
One big advantage of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain going open-world is that it won’t have as many lengthy cutscenes (something that will make players who suffered through the near- feature-film-length scenes in MGS 4 on the PS3 very happy).

E313: MGS V will incorporate user-made missions
If there was a trend at E3 2013, it was that almost every game and it’s cousin was showing off real-time tablet and smartphone integration with next-gen gameplay, but Kojima-san promises something very different with MGS V: user-generated content.

E313: Metal Gear Solid V will look even better
We were all blown away by the MGS V demo that opened Microsoft’s E3 press conference, but creator Hideo Kojima promises the game will look even better than what was shown on Monday, even hinting that the 360 version might actually look THAT good now.

It’s Official: Kiefer Sutherland is SNAAAAKE!
It’s sad that David Hayter won’t be voicing Snake in The Phantom Pain, but the role of the older, original Snake/Big Boss couldn’t have gone to a better fellow Canuck. I mean, come on, it’s Jack Bauer we’re talking about here!

Confirmed: Hayter not in MGS 5...and very sad
In his own Twitlonger twitter post yesterday, David Hayter recently came clean and confirmed that he won’t be voicing Snake/Big Boss in the upcoming MGS V, and clarified that it was not his choice. Unfortunately, it wasn’t an April Fool’s Joke.

Kojima clarifies MGS V confusion...somewhat
In an recent interview with GameTrailers, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima finally unwrapped the bandages on MGS V, addressing the Phantom Pain shenanigans, the absence of David Hayter and his future involvement with the franchise after MGS V.

David Hayter not voicing Snake in MGS 5
David Hayter, the actor/screenwriter who has been the gravelly US voice of Snake since MGS1 will not be reprising his role. Another shock, the next best thing, Kiefer Sutherland is providing voice work for the game, but won’t be voicing Snake either.

Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain separate?
Contrary to statements made earlier today by Hideo Kojima himself at GDC, an update by Joystiq.com claims that MGS 5 will consist of TWO games after all. Don’t panic, this is Metal Gear, you’re supposed to feel confused. More contradictions to come.

MGS 5: Ground Zeroes is The Phantom Pain
Finally, one of the worst kept secrets in the modern videogame industry has finally been put to rest today as Kojima Productions has revealed that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are one and the same. Shocked? Thought not.
