Overall: Like many others who have reviewed this game before me, I agree that it tried to do too much and broke too much away from the THPS3 formula which worked just fine. All in all, it's an enjoyable, if frustrating, gaming experience. The environments are expanded and the best feature is the suspension of the 2 minute time limit.
Gameplay: Not too much is new in the gameplay. There are certainly more crazy tricks to try out that you can both learn through goals and figure out for yourselves. These can certainly look cool, but can be quite hard to do. I'm glad that the guys at Neversoft tried to make this game harder than THPS3, but it's a double-edged sword and a steep learning curve. There are some goals that you will put off forever because they either a) don't make sense or b) will require patience, creative problem solving and a lot of focus.
Graphics: While you get a lot more, visually, in the game, the graphics do not appear as smooth as THPS3. More sharp edges to the characters' features and outlines. Everything seems to hold a sharp edge. The graphics aren't bad, not by a long shot, but they aren't my cup of tea.
Sound: The sound is pretty good for the most part. I am glad for the different music, which to me is a step up from the limited and highly repetitive music of THPS3. And, of course, you can make use of custom soundtracks which is always a good thing for those of us who love Xbox.
Suggestions: You tried to do too much. I applaud your efforts, but they came out somewhat disappointing in the execution. It lacks the simple joy of loading THPS3 and just shredding it up for a few minutes each day.

Overall: its a fun game but different than tony hawk 1, 2 and 3. You have unlimited time before you have to start your next goal
Gameplay: Tony hawk pro skater is a very fun game. It only starts to get boring when you get stuck on a goal. Some goals took me 3 weeks to beat such as getting 2 million points in one run
Graphics: I would not say its an improvement over tony hawk 3 but it is different. You get a view that is farther away from the player. Also the levels are alot larger.
Sound: i love the music. Their are alot more tracks on this tony hawk. Also the custom sound tracks is way cool.
Suggestions: have it xbox live compatible

Overall: This a fun game and has it's pretty funny and cool unlockables. If you loved THPS3 then I think you'll like this one even more.
Gameplay: The levels are awesome and there is a lot of fun unlockables and secrets to find. The missions are great nad they are very diferet than the ones in THPS3.
Graphics: Some nice looking graphics. The characters look nice along with the levels. They are just about the same scale as THPS3.
Sound: A nice variety for the soundtrack. You can hear all the details such as when a board hits the ground and the poeple sound realistic when they talk.

Overall: I appreciate the effort that neversoft put in to the game by trying to create an open-ended feel to it, but in my opinion I think that the THPS3 engine was just fine. But once again I have to give them credit one more time for trying to pull it off, but unfortunatly did not. So overall the game is a blast but only for the first couple of days, if even that, because once you enter the codes (if your a cheater!) theres really no point in playing it after that Because of its silly mission similarities through out the game.
Gameplay: The controls are tight with wonderfull precision that makes this, unfortunatly dissapointing sequal, into a solid game.
Graphics: The environments are great, but not mind blowing. but in my head right now, the only problem that i can think of is that the character models could have used just a little, i repeat, just a little help in details, but other then that, the game looks pretty good compared to the first three.
Sound: The game includes some awsome tunes, but also alows you to put in your own soundtracks thanks to the box's hard drive. The voice overs couldnt be better and the environment sounds are great, which is always a good addition to any game.
Suggestions: Making the environments even more interactive would be a nice addition to any game

Overall: Great game! Stayed with the smooth controls while adding new tricks . Perfecto. THis game can entertain you for so long it is so fun. Who cares if some of the tasks are pointless....Are they fun ? yees......do they entertain you and keep you happy? yes...
Gameplay: Awesome gameplay tons of challengees that are really fun and really nice and big levels with plenty of places to do tricks off of and grind on.
Graphics: Still keeping xboxs rep alive this game had really great graphics...but not too much of a step from the last game but still quite impresive.
Sound: Great sound The magic bums voice is quite amusing and you can listen to you own songs while playing whick is nice.

Overall: Another addition to the seemingly never ending dynasty of Tony Hawk. There has been 5 Tony Hawk games, and while this one may be the best, that's not saying much. The game lacks difference from the other 4 games. By the way I'm counting 2x as a game so that's why I'm saying there was 5. Basicly, this game isn't different enough that would make you want to own the title, because once you have the cheat codes then it's no fun.
Gameplay: Same old tired approach. Same fake stunt tricks. Just harder and more frustrating. The newest trick which is called ot; is the only new thing from Tony Hawk 2x to Tony Hawk 4.
Graphics: Ahhh, the graphics. In this game, the only thing that is different from other system's versions and older versions. The graphics were nearly flawless in this game.
Sound: Let's face it. Any title that has the rip your own soundtrack capability on xbox is always great sound.
Suggestions: Don't make any more Tony Hawk Pro Skater games.

Overall: I hate this game. Gimme a break. I cant believe Tony Hawk 4 managed to be worse than the third one. What a disappointment.
Gameplay: Okay i guess but not great. The game needs something new in it to keep people playing it. The creating guys and earning the same old stuff is gettin old.
Graphics: This game had a weird look to it. Not like the Tony Hawk games before it. I didnt really like it much.
Sound: Sound was alright. Nothing new in it except the animals at the zoo pretty much. So no improvements makes it lose points.

Overall: well this game is another edition in the tony hawk series and it is better then the rest...the missions are very unique.. and u have unlimited time 2 cruise around the level which i think is very awesome.
Gameplay: gameplay is very smooth..animations r all good except for some of the stupid specials that r just stupid and shoulda never been added 2 the game..but o well nobody's perfect
Graphics: graphics are very nice..everything looks very clean and the levels are outstandingly nice. i'm not a real life skateboard fan so i dunno if hte player models are realistic or not
Sound: sounds are really good. sometimes the skateboard hitting the ground chops a bit and gets behind. the talking is good and music is good...good ol' ACDC

Overall: Very slick, very playable. Most enjoyable. I like the look and the sound track. This is the first of skateboarding game I ever played and It hooked me. tried TH 3 but I think that TH 4 has alot more to offer in the career mode. I you do not own a skater game buy this one.
Gameplay: Easy enough to learn, challenging at times. Please eliminate the cheat codes. I am human and subject to many urges. I seem to have an inability to avoid using cheat codes. free wheelie and be like eric are a death blow to the challenge of the game. The career mode has kept me entertained for many hours the pro challenges still havbe not be finished.
Graphics: Very good. of the quality one would expect from a franchise such as this. I like the movies that come with and are bought and or earned throughout the game
Sound: Sounds are very appropriate and realistic. I really enjoyed the sound track. I love your choice of AC/DC as main song

Overall: The fourth series of the Hawk series. The missions in this game have evolved to going around and talking to characters for diffrent challenges. T his game is exremly fun especially with XBC.
Gameplay: It plays just like all other hawk versions. The missions are now activated by talking to various characters with an icon over the head. The real fun is on xbox connnect where you play against other people. I have had alot of fun with this.
Graphics: The best graphics so far minus that !&%$@#* grass that still hasnt appeared. Still a ps2 port but oh well textures look nice.
Sound: Assortment of songs put together by activision. Custom soundtrack supported. Better bail sound affects.

Overall: I would have bought this game, but they just had to go and screw Sbox Over, and short us out on online play. If this had online play, it would probably be one of my favorite games, but although a great game, it is missing that element, and since I was tight on cash, I couldn't buy it. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't, this is easily the best in the series, and its not really and update, its a totally new game!
Gameplay: The Tony Hawks have always been known for their fun, addictive, and challenging gameplay, and this one doesn't go short on its reputation. THe new style of gameplay is very nice, and it is a nice vacation from the original style. Plus, the goals are much more unique, and there are much more goals than before!
Graphics: This is the only real downside to the game, the graphics are ps2ish, and thats about it. They really need to make this game look like atleast how 2x looked.
Sound: As always, Tony comes with a very cool and very good soundtrack that will get good songs stuck in your head!

Overall: This game is great, and for what I paid it better be( Almost $100 ). To bad there is no online play it would have been even better. Anyways the graphics are awesome blah blah blah .. If your not going to buy it than atleast rent it.. If you already know how to play than you could beat it.

Gameplay: The gameplay is great. Fairly easy to control. If you've just started playing though it's going to be pretty hard at first. Very fun. Especially would have been with Live.
Graphics: The graphics are actually very nice. The levels are beautiful and the skaters look almost life-like. But the characters in the game dont look to realistic.
Sound: The sound is very nice. The music get's annoying after awhile though. Thankfully you can rip your own tracks, BOOYAH !

Overall: This game is absolutely great. If you enjoyed THPS 1, 2, 2x, or 3, this is a definite buy for you. It has a different, but better style.
Gameplay: The gameplay is really fun and enjoyable. The button layout for the Tony Hawk games contribute to the easy gameplay. The levels are absolutely MASSIVE compared to the old games.
Graphics: The graphics are STUNNING in this game. The character models are very well detailed and resemble the skater very well. There is an incredible amount of detail that has gone into every object. Awesome graphics.
Sound: Sound is another mega plus about this game. The original soundtrack isn't all that bad, but when you have the ability to add your own music...it makes it that much better. The characters and pedestrians in the game talk as you go by, and the cars maek realistic noises as well. Very well done.
Suggestions: Keep up the ability to allow us to listen to custom soundtracks. Also, in Tony Hawk 5 (if it comes out) make it Live. Tony Hawk on Xbox Live would be soo much fun.

Overall: The game that revolutionised Skateboarding on consoles. Its on the Xbox and is as good as youve ever played it before.
Gameplay: If you like skateboarding but your not good at it, then this is virtually the next best thing its pin point gameplay makes it so fun and addictive to play it makes you love the sport even though you werent a big fan of it before!
Graphics: Enviroments and Characters look great nothing more can be said about that.. although in places the characters sometimes appear just slightly blocky which is no biggie anyway
Sound: very good soundtrack played while playing ability to change track is good too, aswell as the sounds of when your skating down a ramp or grinding a poll they all sound realistic
Suggestions: One of the all time best games ever made! now spend more time on a Motocross based game with the gameplay and addicitivty of this and then you'll be sorted!

Overall: The fourth and best Tony Hawk's game to date (well, to me tough.) First, the graphics are very well done, and the custom skater stuff really cool. The soud too isn't bad, the sound of the skate rolling around, or the sound of you're character breaking is neck off of a missed trick. I've played over 20 hours and i aint sick of this game....and i will never be.
Gameplay: You can easily nail a trick with no problem. The 9 levels are pretty big and you can even cutomize your own skate park, so that's a plus.
Graphics: The characters a well done, exept some pro skater faces that seem to have been splited in 2, then put back together...but hey, the custom skater's faces aren't so bad. The clothes, skates, shoes and hats are varied, for people who want to create their own style.
Sound: As i said earlier, the sound of the skate rolling on different surface isn't so bad, and the sound track is pretty good, to me. the voices of the character and the sound of the cars and everything esle is pretty nice too.
Suggestions: well, I think all I was supposed to say here will appear in T.H.U.G.

Overall: This is a really good game, everything is awesome put the only bad thing of it is that we cant't play more than two players without being connected to the internet. But it doesn't matters because it's the best game of skateboarding ever!!!
Gameplay: The gameplay is great, of course you need to know where the buttoms are on the controller to play! The career mode is really great you just can't have enough of it! It is only as I've mentionned before that we can't play with more than a friend! But everything else is really great!
Graphics: The visual in the game is pretty good, more than I expected, it's great! It is only the face of Rodney Mullen that looks like a !&%$@#* wit man! But all the other things look really good!
Sound: The sound is great, it could not have been better! The sound is really clear and the songs are great especially Goldfinger, don't wanna be a spokesman tanananan tantantan...!
Suggestions: Yes, put more players on the multiplayer gameplay, it really sucks! We have to pass each other the controller and that really sucks! But good job for everything else! You also should put a video of Mike Vallely!

Gameplay: Same old same old, only for some reason , much better !. Loads of new modes and challenges to conquer , hours of fun !!!!
Graphics: a vast improvement on TH3, much better visuals. The skaters , enviroments and boards all look very near reality. Excellent.

Overall: Fairly good game, nice depth in some places, maybe too much sometimes...
Gameplay: There are way too many moves for one controller to handle. I press up+Y and it usualy does about 1 out of 4 different grinds, whichever it feels like doing at the time... there are simply WAY too many moves for this game. You end up doing challenges again and again and again, it's plainly just not fun. The free skate is great though, but gets boring relativly fast, within 10 minutes I find myself comming back to the PC...
Graphics: GREAT! Best part of the game. Great graphics, smooth gameplay and great depth on character creation.
Sound: Awesome. Most of the songs are just right for this type of game. Good sound effects, sounds like a skateboard does I guess...
Suggestions: and RPG type game. start off really crappy and have to pay for LESSONS instead of buying tricks. you shouldnt just be able to pay money to learn stuff, this isn't the matrix... make the controls a little better, I keep pressing the same buttons but somehow get different moves... hows this possible? and yes, I've played all 4 tony hawks, and these controls are the worst.

Overall: Great realistic skateboarding action. It is better(and safer) than the real thing.Huge detailed levels to choose from. There are many fun and challenging missions that enable the player to gain experience and levels.I love the rail combos. It is a must have for skaters and non-skaters alike.

Gameplay: Very smooth game play. You cant help but to tighten all your muscles and lean back on every massive vertical air.Its seems that just about every object is fair game for grinding or busting sick tricks on.
Graphics: So far I only have 4 levels opened. But so far so good from what I have experienced. The skaters look cool. Some of the people you run into seem a little boxy.I dig the party mode cheat. I like all the cheats except the monkey cheat. Its just annoying...
Sound: I love the soundtrack on this one.Lots of old school stuff. You cant beat a game that will play JFA.Its also cool that the younger kids get exposure to the older punk stuff.Listening to real music as opposed to "game music" is such a cool idea.It makes the game more enjoyable..

Overall: Tony Hawk, the surprise franchise started some time ago now, well, not really that long ago. It took the skateboarding fans by storm, but even more surprised the non-boarding fans like myself. I am no where near a sk8er, although I do have an infatuation with Avril Lavigne. That's besides the point. The point is that this game, this franchise, is near perfect, but nothing is truly perfect so I try not to give 5s too often.
Gameplay: Just like every previous Tony game, which is fine as is. The control scheme probably took a lot of testing when they did it the first time around, but nothing has been changed so this was easy. I did find that the responsivness has gone down a bit, but maybe that was the effects of pot on my mind when I was playing. Probably. Anyway, there are many parks to skate, the worlds are the most interactive worlds of any game ever seen. Near everything can be tricked off of. Even if you get sick of the parks included in the career mode, there are many (over a dozen) pre-made created skate parks. Of course, you have the ability to create your own, I have not used this feature, but I'm sure it's just as good as the one in THPS3, if not better.
Graphics: The graphics are not 100% crisp, but they get the job done, this franchise was never meant to look like Halo or PGR, these games are all about gameplay. The character models are decent, and the worlds look great, must have a very good draw rate. Stop your skater and just look around, details can be seen from far away. My biggest gripe with the graphics is when you crash through a fence, the fence pieces dissapear, why not leave them there and have them make a cool sound when you skate over them? Also, the blood is not needed, it is silly to see blood splatter on the ground when you fall on your back, it also dissapears. Good job, leave them the way they are, do not sacrifice gameplay for graphics.
Sound: Ok, we've heard the same board and grind noises since the original Tony Hawk game, that's old. On top of that we are given a very crappy soundtrack with some very crappy songs on it. Thankfully, I loaded my Nickelback CD right away and was off skating to some great tunes. If this feature was not here, this would have been a 2.5
Suggestions: Everything is pretty much dandy with this series. Except for the fact that you guys come out with a new one every 5 months. Stop milking sk8 fans for money and wait a while, put some more work into your other projects.

Overall: It is the ultimate Tony Hawk game. It gives you the special feeling you get from every Tony Hawk game. The only negative thing is that it isn't Live enabled, and that the online gaming feature is exclusive to Playstation 2.
Gameplay: The gameplay is better then ever, more goals, goals that are getting harder each time. The good old S-K-A-T-E letters but also the C-O-M-B-O letters which have to be collected in one single combo. Also the time has been removed, this makes space for better and cooler goals. The flatland tricks are also very cool. I think the minigames do not give a special addition to game, they are fun, but only for a while. Also the cash is back!!! You also have on some objects records, a sample, on one fountain when you skate around it, the game counts how much rounds you skate around the fountain, you now want to break your own records. This game has the ultimate best skateboard game gameplay ever.
Graphics: Best visuals ever on the Hawk games, but I think that the Xbox can produce better visual effects then Tony Hawk 4 features.
Sound: Excellent soundtrack, however I felt that the soundtracks get worse every Tony Hawk game, what I meant by that is that Tony Hawk 1 had the best soundtrack of all, after that Tony 2, and so on. The developers should pay attention to that.
Suggestions: There should be a couple of more levels, and some levels should be better, the Carnival level sucks for instance.

Overall: this game does what a game should do, be fun and entertaining. i think some people complaining about pointless challenges may have missed the point of them, and that being that they are challenges. they don't have to be logical or meaningful, just fun and a challenge, which i have so far found they are. this game is just the next evolution of the always popular Tony Hawk line, and it won't disappoint fans and those new to the series.
Gameplay: the gameplay is very polished as they have the knowledge of their previous games and it shows. the level designs are excellent and offer tons of chanes to put on a show. only problem i have is that my thumb hurts now from playing it too much. gotta play a slower paced game like MGS2:Substance for a while.
Graphics: the game looks great, but it stills feels like it has a lot of room for improvement. the 720p option is nice and gives you a little visual treat, but it lacks the details that will blow people away like Splinter Cell has.
Sound: the sounds are good, but nothing special. i do like how they allow your own soundtrack, which is a MUST in just about every game these days, especially those that don't rely on music for mood, like MGS2 or Splinter Cell do. i would go nuts if i had to listen to the crap music in most of these games, it would be like owning a PS2, which would sucketh.
Suggestions: i would love to see a trick trainer. this would be in a skate park and have a voice turtorial, ghost and demo for training you how to do the various tricks or pulling off a combo. it would help a lot for the newbies and give you a good place to practice your skills and raise your skills to the next level.

Overall: Ok where to begin..I dont know where to start.I have played and bought all of the tony hawk series and i would not want to be mislead on wether to buy it or not.But i am telling you that tony hawk 4 is easily the best one made yet.I meen sure there are those idiots like ltm360 that think that it is not good just because it has some unecessary goals but that is what makes it fun.Cause i meen think about it tony hawk 1,2,3, all had the same freaking goals. Now how fun could would they be if they were always the same. And on top of that the unecessary goals as ltm360 put it i think that they are a lot of fun.
Gameplay: Well it is not much difference in the gameplay except for the new levels that are much better because they are so much bigger. And the goals that are better.the new
c-o-m-b-o- is great along with the pro scores. They threw in some new flat land tricks that i personally think is awesome they help for big combos and they look cool.I also love the new instant replay i like how they let you slow motion and fast motion. But the one thing i dont like about it is that they dont let you rotate the camera anymore like they did on thps3. Now that is one complaint but really when you come home the first day after you bought it and you are playin it are you just goin to break the cd in half just cause you cant rotate the camera view..THINK ABOUT IT......
Graphics: Now i would have agree with ltm360 on the fact that the graphics are about the same as they are on thps3 but with xbox how much better can they get. This time when you fall your elbows get cut and so do your shins and knees and after you grind your board gets scraped.I just thought that was a neat added bonus.
Sound: Now the sound this time is much better. This is one thing that you need to do your reasearch on ltm360.I meen you have the game go back and listen to them .How can you say that the sound is bad i meen they took the peoples real voices and put them into it but i meen if the real voices are not good enough then you all should just stop playing video games because it will not get much better than this until about 2005 when xbox 2 and ps3 comes out.The music i can most likely agree with i thought that they put great music on it this time along with all the others.
Suggestions: Just keep doing what you are doing. On tony hawk 5 put new goals on there like you have done on tony hawk 4 so it keeps the game new so we will keep buying.

Overall: I must agree with Azazel on his review, Tony Hawk 4 has been changed alot, but not for the better. Tony Hawk 4 is hands down the worst version of Tony Hawk. Out of 190 missions most of them are very pointless and not one bit related to skateboarding. I don't think many skateboarders are running around playing baseball with an invisible ghost, or playing tennis with a trash talking loser. Some of the missions are very difficult, but once again pointless.
Gameplay: Tony Hawk's 1,2,2x, & 3 were all masterpieces, but this one drives the series right into the toilet! The levels aren't very large, but do to the missions in each (21), the may seem large. The new missions such as C-O-M-B-O are great, but doing tricks as a clown, or kids shout them out is pointless. The hidden chrachters suck (No Spiderman or Wolverine! Just lame Star Wars people). The Crs have been massivly improved. On the control issue, not much to complain about.
Graphics: Not one difference between Tony Hawk 3 and 4, the exact same! If you've played Tony Hawk 3, don't expect anything new.
Sound: Finally, a soundtrack which I like all the songs! The actual skater voice-overs are great too. Grinds, bails, grunts, lands, etc. are all once again the same as Tony Hawk 1.
Suggestions: Why, Why did you take out 'Find The Hidden Tape'!? There was nothing wrong with Tony Hawk's 1-3, why did you change everything? Return Tony Hawk to its roots and I'll buy it, but im not buying this one sadly.

Overall: Definetly disappointing. Tony Hawk 4 is a descent game, but they made a big mistake. Yes they added 190 goals to complete, however the problem is that 60% of the goals are no fun. Many seem pointless and others are just silly.
Gameplay: The gameply is similar to the old Tony Hawk with the addition of the revert and some very cool new special moves, but the new levels are lacking in many areas. Overall it just paled in comparison to Tony Hawk 3.
Graphics: Graphics are beautiful! THPS4 supports 720p resolution (and so does my tv), so visually this game definetly comes out on top.
Sound: Best soundtrack so far. NWA and system of a Down are great additions. Plus you can still add your own music.
Suggestions: Go back to Tony Hawk 3 and take a good long look at perfection. We need more levels and better goals than were shown in THPS4. The new combo letters goal was a nice edition though.

Overall: Great game. Brand spankin' new graphics, along with some new gameplay, and scoreing system. Fun multiplayer system, along with create-a-s
Gameplay: Wow! Great, new, exciting gameplay, mainly career mode! The changed the whole thing, and made it twice as good! I don't want to spoil you on how it works, so go check it out.

Anyway, the game is still pretty much unrealistic, but that's why it's so fun..I guess!
Graphics: Great graphics. Maybe not as good as some other games, but decent. They have some ups and some downs. The models are much more smooth, along with level layouts. Although, the models are a bit jaggy.

Sound: You'll love this game if you're into punk-rock! For me, though, I need the Xbox's hard drive. :)

Suggestions: Hopefully we see THPS5.
