Overall: Best baseball game EVER! Even as baseball season is over, I still play it! It has teh best gameplay, graphics, and options i've ever seen in a video game. Franchise mode is SWEET!
Gameplay: Great pitcher/batter interface. I love the options, there is one where you can change the sounds so that you are "at the ballpark." I just love everything about this WONDERFUL game!
Graphics: Graphics are TERRIFIC! You can see the creases in the players uniforms. It just destroys all the other baseball games in this area, taking full advantage of the xbox hardware.
Sound: All the sound options are great, but the announcers can get repetitive. So, thats why I turn them off! Thank you for putting this in there Sega!
Suggestions: MAKE WSB 2K4, and make the Red Sox like a billion times better than the Yankees!

Overall: Sega sports has done a wonderful job with creating a simulation of all sports up to now. World Series Baseball 2K3 is no exception. Excellent all around.
Gameplay: WSB 2K3 has the same control aspects of the previous version. Plus adding all the new features such as wall catches and a deeppppp franchise mode. The only area I was disappointed in was the lack of three levels of minor leagues to pull prospects to play with and trade for.
Graphics: This is one Sega game where graphics really shine on the XBOX. Hockey was sort of drab. NFL was good not great. This is the best looking baseball game available.
Sound: Sound is good all the ambient sounds are there. Random yells from the stands in the middle of an at-bat. Cheers and jeers from croud are good.
Suggestions: Flesh out the Minor leagues and stop the draft of coaches. Make it more like a free agent bid war or something.

Overall: I haven't bought a baseball game in a while and after purchsing this game I wonder what took me so long. This another Sega sport title that doesn't dissapoint.
Gameplay: I love how you change between curser batting, timed batting, and power batting. The only thing that needs work is the fielding, sometimes they get to balls they shouldn't have. The franchise mode is awsome.
Graphics: Graphically this probably is the best looking of all the other titles. The only thing that needs work is the accuracy of the faces of the players.
Sound: Sound appeal isn't really important to me, but I think the announcers for this game do a good job. Hearing the crack of the bat on replays is pretty cool.
Suggestions: Let us be able to decide if we want computer created managers or the real ones. For example, I like the Cubs and was upset that Dusty Baker couldn't manage the team. Also use a real money sysem instead of this BP crap. Other that no major complaints.

Overall: This game is awesome, especially for a baseball nut. If you are, prepare to spend untold hours adjusting rosters, negotiating contracts, attempting to drum up fan interest, etc. Oh yeah, you can play baseball too . . .
Gameplay: The "in-game" portion of this game is very good. The baseball is handled fairly realistically and with some excitement (for baseball anyway). But where this game really shines is in the off field elements. I don't even play actual games that much, I simulate them through the incredibly deep franchise mode. If you can do it in real baseball, (contracts, coaching strategies, scouting, minor league development, etc, etc, etc . . .) you can do it in this game. If you ever wanted to be the owner of a baseball team, this is the closest you're going to come unless you stumble upon $500M.
Graphics: Pretty good graphics all around. Character models are good (not exceptional). The stadiums are accurately represented and the fans are reasonable (fairly 2D). However, if you play the game like I do, the graphics and sound are irrelevant.
Sound: Having the ESPN soundtracks (Sportscenter, Baseball Tonight) is cool. The announcers are pretty boring and could definitely be livened up.
Suggestions: How about an occasional "Baseball Tonight" broadcast giving scores and highlights from games played in Franchise or Season mode? That would be SAA-WEEEET

i would rather play a baseball game from the regular nintendo.
Gameplay: The game play was just like every other baseball game slow and boring. i think they should just quite makeing baseball games.
Graphics: this was the only thing that was remotly good about the game it look ok. but still nothing to brag about.
Sound: the sound was ok but the annoucers got on my nerves the first time i played the game. but i just turned the sound off.

Graphics: Graphics were great the best in any basbeall game. The replays of the double plays I love sooo much...it reminds me of myself out on the field playing! :-)

Overall: Overall this is a great BaseBall Game. PPL who write insane reviews giving this game a 1 or 2 are just plain stupid. If you want a good baseball game that will give you the feeel of the game, its WSB 2K3
Gameplay: Controlling the players is almost to easy. This game has great control!! Some will say that the game is slow overall, well the truth is its just baseball. Its as slow as you want to make it.l
Graphics: The graphics I thought were done very well. You really can't say they are bad, because there is not any other baseball games that blow it away in looks.
Sound: Sounds like baseball, what more can I say. The crack of the bat is better in this years game, and the announcing is done well.
Suggestions: Why no live, this was a bad mistake. If inside pitch is a good game Sega will lose all who have come to enjoy WSB. Inside pitch has LIVE, which a majority of ppl want. So just like me who bought WSB to get me by. When I buy Inside Pitch and play online and it rocks, why would I ever go back to Sega, even when they come out with XBOX Live enabled WSB.

Overall: The best baseball game - Playing an actual game has great gameplay and is a lot of fun - Plus you can save every half-inning - Even if this game only consisted of its outstanding Franchise mode it would be worth purchasing
Gameplay: Very easy to control - Have had troubles with fielding in the past - but this game makes it real easy to control
Graphics: The players look pretty good - The stadiums are very realistic - Great instant replays - The in-game stat menus provides the stats you need in hurry and in an easy to view format
Sound: Great game sounds - However, the announcing duo is not that spectacular - Sometimes seems that they need more unique comments
Suggestions: Its asking for alot but - More interaction with crowd - Like Jacobs Field has a guy in the bleachers banging a drum when it is time for a rally - I want to hear that stuff - More of the little things - like guys flipping over tarp, fence when chasing foul ball

Graphics: The graphics are top notch! They are better then any of the other games except for InsidePitch from Mirosoft wich int out yet.

Overall: This is going to be a very biased review, because I kind of think
baseball is boring.. and playing a game about baseball, is pretty
boring too. This game was fun for about 3 games, then it got
repetitive... swing, hit, run, catch, pitch. That is the story of this
game, no more needs to be said. I think you have to be a REAL hardcore
baseball fan to play a baseball game.

Gameplay: I guess for a baseball game all the necessary gameplay is there, so I
cannot rate this gameplay any lower than 4, it wouldn't be fair to the
people who made the game, or the people who like baseball. Season, Home
Run Derby, etc etc.. it's all there and it's all good (for baseball).
Graphics: The graphics are good but I have seen better, I seem to say that for
every game except Halo. The movements are smooth and the stadiums are
immaculate. Don't get much better in a baseball game.
Sound: There is really not much sound needed in baseball game, so this stat
really shouldn't worry any of you who are going to play this game. Smack,
yay, HOME RUN! Derek Jeter! Ball 4! Etc.. nothing here to really be
rated.
Suggestions: Don't listen to me I don't even like baseball.

Overall: This is by far the best baseball game I've ever played. The ESPN license just makes it that much better.
Gameplay: The gameplay is smooth aswell as the animations. The franchise mode is deep and has everything from records to coaches.
Graphics: The visuals are also the best I've seen for a baseball game. All the fielding and hitting animations are smooth.
Sound: Not much during the game but the ESPN touch in the menus and before and after games makes it like you're watching it on TV.

Overall: Hands down this is the best baseball game I have ever played for any system! This game rocks! Sega Sports picked up from where the left off last year. If you wat a baseball game this is the one to get!
Gameplay: The pitcher/batter interface is great. You can choose whether or not you want to see where the pitch is thrown or not. The pitching is awesome. Your pitcher has the same pitches he has in real life. You can change it from directly locating the pitch or moving the control stick to locate it which makes it harder. I love how you can send players down to the minors and call them bac up. You can trade, and the trade has to be fair otherwise the computer will override it. There is a frachise mode which adds a lot of depth. And stats galore. You compte in All-Star voting and awards such as Cy Young, MVP, Rookie of the Year, and Player of the Week Honors.
Graphics: The graphics are great for this game except when they make some white guys black and vice-versa. Awesome stadiums.
Sound: I love the commentators. They are Rex Hudler who is great and some other guy who is good, too. I love the crack of the bat and everything.
Suggestions: Make ESPN World Series Baseball 2004 with LIVE, and better graphics. Other than that ths game was PERFECT!

Gameplay: Just like all other baseball games. After playing it for a while the controls really began to become annoying!
Graphics: This was the best thing about the game! The only decent part but still it was far from anything amazing....

Overall: The game is pretty balanced in all of the catagories. Some areas need a little improvement though. It is presented in ESPN format to add a real game experience. This game has every stat you could want. It has your hitting and pitching tendincies and ESPN Pitch Track. You can see where the last pitch was thrown. Great Game all around!
Gameplay: The game play is great. You can dive for a hot grounder or leap to snag a homerun or grab a high liner. The batting may be diffucult at first. But once you get used to it it is great. There are not as many pitches as in some but every pitchers uses his real life assortement. The power or contact buttons are a nice touch. Having to warm up a pitcher is also fun.
Graphics: The graphics are stunning. Every ball park is perfect to every detail. The player models are perfect on some and good on others. The helmets shine just like the real thing. The uniforms have rinkles that look superb. The crowd doen't reall look 3D but that's not important. ESPN presentation does not hurt this game either.
Sound: The sound is not really that bad. The other parts of the game are so good you have to be a little bit picky. Occasionally the announcers will trail the play that is going on.But is really not that bad trust me. The venders and hecklers are great though. The stadium announcer is also cool. He will say the players name as he is up to bat. If you let the game sit for a while he will start tlking about news and events. The sound is great!
Suggestions: Make the replays a little better. Try and work on the commentary. It can get a little repetitive. But you no it is great now so if you can improve in a few areas it could be unbeatable.

Overall: This is the baseball game to get this year. Again, Sega has managed to jump up and slam one deep against the comp. ASB is good, and MVP is, well - let's just say EA will have to revisit the ol' drawing board again next year. WSB2k3 seems to have fixed the AI problems from last year and being that I play this one in single player/franchise mode the most, this game really makes the most of re-creating a realistic approach to baseball. This one is the total package.

Gameplay: Where to start? This one has all of the bells and whistle needed to make any gamer happy. Deep franchise mode and TV style ESPN presentation. But the real sticking point, as with any game, is gameplay. Renderware really does another great job with this one. The calculations involved to recreate the ball jumping off of the bat and into the field are unmatched- The AI has been tweaked and really make you pay when you gamble at diving for a ball or throwing to the wrong base. At times you feel overmatched, but at the same time, purist of the sport will realize that this is what makes up the ebb and flow of the real game. A simple lead-off walk to start the inning can destroy a pitcher that works himself behind the count when facing the heart of the line up in real life, and Sega has placed that feeling right into the game seamlessly. In last years effort, I think I ran off about a 25 game winning streak on the toughest difficulty setting. I never finished my season because it was just too easy. This year, I have already lost 12 games and feel like I had the power to change that, but in all truth, poor pitch selection and placement cost me a few runs. You can even look at the box scores on your favorite sports web site and view the numbers, and find the same type of numbers for your game. Each game, you may get the feeling that you are getting way too many hits, and boom, the CPU pitcher either regains his control, or the manager pulls him all together in an effort to stop the barrage of hits. Either way, the ending stats look like the real world counter parts, around 7 to 12 hits a game, and about 5 to 4 as final scores. Depending on the team you are using, you should have some realistic numbers. This game is the bomb! The only gripe is that you cannot play two players on the same team. I know it is a minor gripe, but I would have loved to see that option. Bottom line here is that this game is fun and challenging. Months and months of 1 player fun ahead if you own this one...

Graphics: Graphics - Well, what can I say here except again Sega has done a great job. All Sega does with there sports franchise's is place attention to detail. If you look at the NFL, NBA or WSB2k series, then you know you are in good hands. No dwarfs here, no washed out colors. Just great graphics and above average animations. There are a few guys that look a bit off, and there are a few times that the bat does not meet the ball, or the bat is not in the hands of your hitter on the replays. But overall, it is a very solid effort. The stadiums are recreated beautifully. Everyone that plays the game with their home team and been to the home ballpark should be able to spot the details. For me, Minute Maid Park is right on the money. The buildings behind the park, all of it. I mean, you want intricate, just visit the Reds new ballpark and look at the cars going by on the bridge behind center field. The presentation and menus are good. The ESPN look is a welcomed addition to all of Sega's titles. The interface is good, and the only gripe would be that the instant replay's start at the beginning of the play instead of just getting the tail end.

Sound: The sound is great. From the play by play, to the fans calling out to the players - "Hey Scott! Your team ain't Rolen!" Or, "Hey Chipper! Chip, Chip, Chipper!" Funny stuff. All that is missing is the "Hey Piazza, you swing like a homo". At any rate, the sounds and ambiance are perfect. The bat cracks, and the stadium sounds make the title complete.

Suggestions: I really only have a small issue - Why doesn't the announcers say created players names? If the names are names that are already in the game - For example - Williams, Brown, Miller etc. NFL & NBA2k3 has name recognition, this needs to be in next years version.

Overall: I love baseball but haven't played one in a couple years. WSB on DC was terrible, Triple Play (first one) on PS2 was alright, and ASB on N64 was da bomb. Now, Sega has turned the WSB series on the right path. This game is not perfect, nor was it everything I was hoping for, but for the few hours I've had it I've gotten solid enjoyment out of one of my rentals.
Gameplay: First and foremost the Hollywood Video box was leading me on. It claimed it was 4 players. Well 4 controllers popped up, but only 2 players could join. Wow was I pissed. So I decided to bail exhibition and just do a Big League Challenge. Took the cover man Jason Giambi (Yankees rule!) and loved the pitcher/batter interface. It took me no less than 10 minutes before I was having no problems moving the cursor over the ball. I thought the ball speed was too slow, but as I was going through option you can turn ball speed to fast. It wasn't flying past me like a pitch would in Slugfest but it seemed a bit more realistic than medium did. In the end, I won against some guy from the NL it a pretty close one. I decided to try out exhibition. After looking at the Yankees and realizing they had 100 in all categories, I went against the Red Sox. After 2 innings, I was leading by 2 but I had to quit for my bro. So next game I played against the legends. Big mistake. I've never had my !&%$@#* handed to me so bad in a game of baseball in a matter of 3 innings. Wow the A.I. was good (or maybe it was just my bad hitting skills with non-power hitters). I love the replays especially the home run ones. Only problem is the animations are kinda off. For ex. I hit one with Giambi and in the replay my hands weren't even on the bat till I made contact with the ball. Field control is also a bit, stiff. Throwing animations are so nice though. The transition from picking up the ball to throwing it is so smooth it looks lifelike. No choppy movements at all. Didn't get to touch franchise yet.
Graphics: One of the best graphically impressive games around. Reason it doesn't get a 5.0? Mike Mussina looks fatter than Jason Giambi. There character models are off and so are many others. As for stadiums, fields, scenery, and fans, all picture perfect. Though the fans are 2d, you'll rarely see them as cardboard 2d models. From the front view they look like pretty well designed 3d models. I can't really describe them but trust me when I say they are very !&%$@#* good.
Sound: Commentary is the bomb. These comments concerning how far or close a ball is to going over the fence is just awesome. Sometimes they are bit behind on the play (usually only in Home Run Derby) but there are no pauses and names plug into their sentences very smoothly. Crowd noise is great. When you hit one deep and it just barely goes foul, the crowd just OOOHH's and it sounds like the real ball park. On field sound effects are hard to hear. I recommend turning them up to fall so you can hear ball meet bat but what I heard was good.
Suggestions: Online play and how about some 4 player support?

Overall: WORLD SERIES BASEBALL 2K3 is definitely one of the best sports console games I have ever had the pleasure of playing. The game plays true to the sport of baseball while remaining extremely addictive in the gameplay. I highly recommend purchasing WS2K3 without hesitation.
Gameplay: This is one of the most realistic gameplay experiences within a sports game. The AI makes the right decision 99% of the time. The AI will make you pay for errors.
Graphics: The stadiums are almost perfect renditions of real major league ballparks. The only thing that prevented me from giving the graphics a perfect score was the crowd and dugout. Sega needs a little direction from All-Star Baseball in this instance.
Sound: It would have been nice to have a more serious baseball dialogue between the announcers like All Star Baseball. Once again, Sega needs to look in All-Star Baseball's direction.
Suggestions: Sega, needs to work on the lively nature of the dugout and bullpen. They also need visits to the mound from the manager. In addition, they need to make it more difficult to steal a base.

Overall: The game is great I really enjoy playing a baseball game that lets you control everything, although the game could use a few more tweaks here and there I will keep playing until next year.
Also game makers!!! Please make the players more flexible they seem too play a little stiff at times, also check into having the manager walk too the mound next year that would be real nice.
Gameplay: The gameplay is above average i feel it could use more animation in the players is my only grip other than that we can only get better from here keep up the hard work.

Graphics: As far as the eye can see Cardinal Stadium is right on que as for all the rest of the stadiums, players need a little facial work other than that great work.
Sound: Announcers!!They have alot too say huh!!we need new voice over in the game that is it the sound is great fan support will get a rally going just fine also background noise as far as firworks could be better
Suggestions: Next year just don't go backwards please everything so far is great also shorting the managment aspect of the game it is great and all but all we need is a GM and manager and a scout all the other can go also make players more real theare great now but a little more work please also the games need more excitement throw a little special tweek or a little fun in the game let the manager argue those close strikes and out plays and get thrown out stuff like that it will be greatly appreciated

Overall: This is my first visit back to the World Series franchise since the Dreamcast version. That one was full of dissapointment, but this take seems to work out all the bugs. In comparison to the titles I've rented, it's easily the one and only baseball franchise to own. Featuring comparable graphics, a fantastic gameplay engine, stunning realism and a worthy franchise mode I see no reason to search further for a baseball sim.
Gameplay: This game really shines in realism. The batting and pitching are now very sorted out, and even accomplished players should find scores approaching real life. I like the two button system for batting power/strategy, and haven't found myself hitting a surplus of homers. Pitching is finely tuned and really differentiates depending on the athlete and stamina levels. Fielding isn't quite as useless as the old Dreamcast version, though I think it still tends to throw you a few too many unfieldable balls. Franchise mode is fantastic! Deep, but intuitive, I didn't feel overwhelmed while there are still facets I haven't fully explored. The home run challenge is too easy and a useless add-on.
Graphics: Nice, and comparable or better to what else is out there. Still, I'm not blown away. The replays are fantastic, but the play by play visuals are simply at the cutting edge of what is offered in baseball sims. I don't feel it's been worked out as well as some of the football offerings. There are some nice add-ons like broken bats, stadium effects, etc.
Sound: Good physical sound effects, the same funny catcalling from the fans. The announcing is more fluid if a bit useless. The color commentary seems to make decent logical sense.
Suggestions: Tweak the fielding a bit more, even with the action button I'm not able to get to hits that sometimes I should. A slightly nicer batting screen interface would be nice. All in all a fantastic evolution in a game series, and well worth the wait!
