Description

In Medal of Honor Frontline™ from Electronic Arts, players will assume the role of Lt. Mike Powell, member of the famed 1st Ranger Battalion who gets recruited by the OSS and battles through over 20 levels that are based on historical military campaigns of World War II.

Set during the most trying years of the war, 1942-1945, Medal of Honor:Frontline gives players a sense of the courage it took to survive the landings at Normandy, the assault at Arzew, a rendezvous with the Resistance outside the village of St. Lo, and the push through the heavily defended border of Germany itself to take the bridge at Remagen.

Overall: this is the definative MOH game... and with added multiplayer and improved graphics for the xbox... MOHfrontline could be well worth a look.
Gameplay: MOHfrontline boasts what has to be one of the most memorable opening sequence in a game ever... the down side is that after this point the game seems to get a bit more basic... but it is a definative shooter and must be respected as that.
Graphics: good for the time, and still not bad... but vastly outclassed by new xbox releases... a unique graphicla style is applied to the game, which is nice... but shame it couldnt have made better use of the xbox's power.
Sound: lovely explosions, and good scripted voices help to maintain a good sound quality... overall, it could be better... but it remains a nice sounding game
Suggestions: live play..... and better graphics

Overall: 3rd in the series of the medal of Honor games, the not too distant traipse and kill is back but even more polished than ever. You can see that the first level has had alot (or most) of the effort put into it as you scramble for the beaches. The rest of the game does seem to slack off the further it gets into it but will still be a must for all of the medal of Honor fans out there.
Gameplay: true to the other medal of Honor style games, fast paced but slightly more tactical than the unreals of the world. Quite a few levels but way too easy to complete.
Graphics: Clean crisp xbox graphics, better than its PS2 counterpart. some jerkiness while speech is playing but other than that good frame rate.
Sound: what can I say? if you have a surround sound setup, you can identify where you allies or enemies are by listening for them rather than looking behind you, excellent!

Overall: The game exactly captures the mood of war! Also instead of you being the only one doing work, your fellow comrads actually help you! Yet this would be alot more fun if it were Live enabled, and 2 armies going at it!
Gameplay: The gameplay is fun! Its just like a war, with a big army on your side. You can also go to deserted towns, battlefields ect.. Also the controlls aren't confusing like some war games. I guess it would be alot more fun if it were live enabled.
Graphics: Its visually appealing! Theres a variety of maps including, towns, mountains, enemy bases etc.. Except they lacked on character designs, also there werent to many elements (like fire) which really knocked down the realism.
Sound: It trully does sound like a battle ground! Theres explosions, gun fires, people screaming! And when your commandar or someone talks to you they yell (and the background sound doesnt stop!).
Suggestions: Make it Live! Also more weapons, people, and make the character designs better!

Overall: EA you lazy bastards. If you had to port this game why couldn't you have ported the PC Allied Assault version. Come on! Still not a bad game though for a WWII game i'll take what i can get.
Gameplay: From the first level i though it would be great. The most intense opening level in a game i have ever played. All the boards where your fighting along side american and british troops were great. But the solo missions where you were running down hallways didn't seem any different than other FPS games.
Graphics: This wouldn't have been a problem if it had been ported from the PC but it came from the playstation 2. Their a little better than PS2 but not that much. Framerate is smoother though which is good. Theres a couple death animations that are bad though. The most frequent one is the guy will stand there for a few seconds and then drop. I found myself wasting ammo on a guy already dead. The other is when you shoot a guy in the upper body and sometimes the head it will knock him off his feet but the animation for that death moves in slow motion which is kinda stupid looking. My biggest complaint with the graphics are the grenade, rocket and tank round explosions. After the openin board I thought there would be some really cool looking explosions that would add to the war time atmosphere. But no, the explosions are horrible. Grenades and rockets just shoot 3 small rocks in different directions on impact. I mean come one. I'm not looking for a big firey explosion but how about kicking up some dirt and debrie. On the second level when I was tossing grenades at a tank I thought there was a bug in the game and the grenades were disappearing. But no, they were just weak. I was really disappointed by that.
Sound: Best sound on a video game I have ever heard. Sounded right out of Saving Private Ryan. Theres nothing bad I can say about the sound. Amazing.
Suggestions: Come on guys. Sure you made money off the thing but you would have made boat loads if you had ported Allied Assault in stead of Frontline. I was very disapppointed by this game but I didn't care because I though Battlefield 1942 was still coming out then. Now since thats cancelled I still have the need for a good WWII shooter for xbox.

Overall: Those of you who are war movie buffs, this will make you feel like watching Band of Brothers or Savinf Private Ryan again and again. The closest thing to actually being there in WW II.
Gameplay: Controls are pretty responsive, German is very authentic, and missions are more realisitc than some of the later missions of RTCW. Variation is good and authenticty in environs, weapons, vehicles and mission history is top notch.
Graphics: The games sticking point. If we had seen visuals on par with Wolfenstein or even certain landscapes in Rallisport, this game would be near perfect. Yet we get visuals that gets the job done on a gritty war like scale.
Sound: Good voice acting, detailed sound sourcing, the opening beach invasion makes you want to play with nothing but surround-sound. As well, weapons and vehicles recreate very well.
Suggestions: Make a massive battle campaign on Xbox live.

Overall: Awesome game! The first battle when you hit the beaches is just amazing. Planes flying in bombing and strafing the place, bullets going everywhere. Guys yelling, etc. I only wish more levels were as 'hot' as this one. But they are all good in their own rights...walking down sniper alley's, sneaking inside homes, etc.
Big problem though and it has been mentioned in other reviews. Lack of SAVES on the Xbox! I have a flipping 50,000+ block (still!) free and yet I can only save after I have completed a level? Ridiculous! I should be able to save anytime I want to. Like, when my health is green and I just got through a big part, or....like when I want to eat dinner, or...when I want to go to bed now that it is 3am and I'm still playing the same flippin' level for the 3rd day trying to get the last 30 seconds finished! That really irritates me and is th eonly thing that makes this game less than 5.0
Gameplay: Great, great, great. Different missions, some all out blasting, others sniping, others a combination.
Graphics: Visuals were great. Especially when sniping a german in the head. Literally his helmet will blow off and he'll have a dramatic death sequence...which my wife hates. Shoot 'em in the foot and they hop up and down on the good one. Shoot a sniper on a building roof edge in the chest and he'll touch his hand to it and then bring the hand in front of their face...then flip over the edge and fall to the ground.
Cool. ;)
Sound: I only have stereo, but the sounds were awesome. Especially like I said in the first level. Dolby Digital would be awesome.
Suggestions: Game Saves...I should be able to save anytime I want with that huge XBox harddrive. It shouldn't take much to code in the state of the players environment at any given time. And make the save names longer...I shouldn't have to abbreviate it (but at least you give us some capability, thanks.).

Overall: A great WWII sim. You are a secret agent that is trying to disrupt the Germans. Overall I like controlling just one person.
Gameplay: Shooting is pretty easy but aiming is somewhat time consuming. Overall there is a lot of strategy that is needed.
Graphics: The graphics are very solid. The faces look very real and structures that are shown from far look very real.
Sound: The sound is very neat. Obviously they took a lot of time in this part since every sound is so unique.
Suggestions: Try to make more checkpoints so you don't have to always redo missions.

Overall: A very well done FPS set in World War 2. The game opens with the player taking part in the landing on Omaha Beach similar to how it was depicted in the Saving Private Ryan. It is an excellent game but unless your a fan of first person shooters I would recommend renting it before making the decision to purchase.
Gameplay: You go through a set of missions each with a variety of tasks that need to be accomplished. The game isn't really that hard but if you do get stuck on a particular task you can hit the BACK button for a hint. The default controls are fairly solid with an easy learning curve. The game is quite linear with a steady pace (much slower than that of Return to Castle Wolfenstein) that is much more suited to progressing slowly and taking the enemy out from a distance rather than charging in with guns blazing. When your done with the single player campaign you have four player splitscreen combat to keep you busy for a while. Unfortuntely, four players isn't quite enough people to keep it interesting for long and it becomes boring real quick. The single player campaign is definitely the strong point of the game with the mulitplayer portion feeling like an afterthought.
Graphics: The graphics are good but have some issues. The framerate is rock solid in both single player and multiplayer. The textures scream PS2 constantly reminding me that this is just another port. The faces of the soldiers are the best looking part of this game in my opinion.
Sound: The sound is done extremely well especially for those with Dobly Digital. The opening Beach landing sounds absolutely incredible. The voice acting is well done the narrator does an excellent job.
Suggestions: System link (EA won't do live so why bother) mulitplayer, improved textures.

Overall: The appeal of this game is in the representation of the truth, ie what has happened in war in the past. It is fascinating to know that this game was built on real WWII events.

The real appeal is for me exploration of the WWII missions, the fighting with comrades, and the exploration of this major world event through a computer game.

Its difference to other games in this sense, is its strengh.
Gameplay: Gameplay is fascinating through the learning of the use of weapons, humerous in certain social scenes, fun when riding a truck with you buddy, and fascinating as the historical events unfold.

I have yet to engage in the other difficulties so I have a long way to go.

Go in looking for the awe of unravelling the missions of WWII and you will not be dissapointed.
Graphics: Visiuals are for me ok to good. Landscape was funny sometimes, people were very good. Overall, I couldn't complain.

Again, don't look for stunning graphics as it is the adventure and missions that are the appeal.
Sound: Excellent, appropriate, evocative. If this sound track was created just for the game, I am even more impressed.

The boy soprano is awesome.

what can I say

Overall: Ok, well I guess this gets a 5 cause xbox and ALL consoles desperately need a WWII title, and I suppose this will do...MOHAA would've been SOOO much better.
Gameplay: At first it was fun...I was very disappointed in the D-Day level...I mean, c'mon, there wasn't only 20 guys on the dang beach with two bunkers shootin at them! After the first two levels, I just wanted to beat the game...running and shooting...all the same...it got old fast...and what the hell happenend to those multiplay maps??? They all suck! Too small! I'll get into that more in the suggestions box...
Graphics: The graphics...oy vey...ps2 and xbox are about to go into WWIII against each other and you're porting each others games??? C'mon-what do we look like-Russia?!?! I can't make any better, but i know EA can...someone grab a copy of Allied Assault for PC and play that...its much better...
Sound: Veinschleger! Thats about it. Other than that...its all the saaaaaame.(i have to type at least 100.)
Suggestions: Bigger friggin maps...better graphics...more an.more guns, vehicles, different freakin objectives besides plant charges on this and board that...and for christs sake, PORT ALLIED ASSAULT!

Overall: Greatest historical game I have ever played!!!!!!! Multiplayer ability is extrodinary and music is perfect to put you in the mood for a battle.! Weapon choise and recreation is perfect and might I say the grenades are great fun. hehe. Only thing bad is cant shoot between holes in ladders, like the openings between each bar, bullets cant go through.
Gameplay: Very interesting story line and extramely fun to play through each mission with trying to get a better rank every time.
Graphics: Great graphics on guns and clothing and I cant forget to say something about the great fighting arenas and graphically done enviroments. But I came to one point in a multiplayer battle where my friend walked up to a wall and his hand came through and he shot me in the gut and because i was complaing his hand went through the wall he killed me.
Sound: Great music for that era in time. Also the music really gets you in the mood to have some fun wether its trying to beat the story mode or multiplayer match the music is perfect.

Gameplay: The visuals, the sound, the WWII action. The game is awesome for those that want a shooter but with an excellent plot! If you are a FPS fan, get it!

Graphics: The look of the terrain, the buildings, all the detail.. It looks like France! The did a wonderful job! Puts BF1942 to Shame!
Sound: The sounds are AWESOME!!! The opening action has everything recreated just like in Saving Private Ryan! Awesome! Awesome!

Graphics: The graphics werent the best but where good, but not great the character models where choppy at times but most of the war scenery was great and the weapons looked realistic.

Overall: It was alright. If you've played allied assault don't even try to get used to this game. I have followed the MOH series from the beginning and I was really looking forward to this game. I didn't really enjoy it too much though. The sniper rifle is annoying. Should have just gone with the fixed zoom. It's slow as anything when you're zoomed in too. I rented it with a friend and ended up playing halo before the night was over. controller vibration was well done.
Gameplay: I have allied assault for my pc and I couldn't handle the little annoying things in this game. I didn't like the multiplayer and I didn't like the controller configuration. little effects like steam from pipes etc were cool.
Graphics: decent but this game could have been stunning. When I got to the top of the bunker at normandy and looked out over the beach I really noticed it.
Sound: sound was pretty good. I like hearing the soldiers talking and getting all freaked out when they know you're there.

Overall: I was really impressed with this title. A few of my friends and i rented it, bought a couple of 2-4's and played this one on a 53" surround sound environment. It was a wicked experience believe me.
Gameplay: gameplay is near exact to halo, which was nice cause i didnt feel like learning new controls on a saturday night. the sniper rifle is awesome and the guns i uses all had a nice feel to them. the creaters did a real good job making you feel like you are in the midstof this battle
Graphics: a little rough on the edges but still fairly nice, look at the screenshots you'll get the idea. still doent take away from the game in much at all.
Sound: this has to be the best sound i have heard on any game ever. if you have surround sound this game is worth getting for that reason alone. The bullets wizz by your head, wow you can hear it all. excellent excellent sound

Overall: It certainly isn't perfect, but I am a WWII freak! Until something better comes out (Battlefield 1942) this is the only WWII FPS to own!
Gameplay: Fairly historically accurate, almost like being in Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers, although it's amazing how many times you can be shot before you are killed.
Graphics: Not as good as the Xbox is capable of producing - but still very beutiful landscapes of war-torn Europe.
Sound: The soundtrack is one of the best! Although the sounds of gunfire and shelling can be somewhat chaotic at times, I'm sure this must be realistic of many of the battles in WWII.
Suggestions: Why can't we save our games in mid-level? That's just plain stupid. Also, it would be great to see a MOH based only on the Pacific theater - piloting aircraft, commanding battleships or subs, etc.

Overall: Fantastic new title! I actually enjoy this more than Halo in a lot of ways. Everything comes together to create the experience of playing a WWII adventure movie (Saving Private Ryan is an obvious source). While not the most complex adventures to solve, there's plenty to kill and a historical assortment of weapons to do it with. The presentation in sound and vision is impressive, the only obvious faults being a lack of environmental depth and the crazy lack of an in level saving feature.
Gameplay: The mayhem can get fast and furious, but the controls seem very easy to master and include different options for aiming for those (like me) not very experienced in using the separate thumb button aiming. Most of the tasks seem surmountable, and you won't get lost wondering what to do next though this sacrifices some of the games depth. This is a shooter first and foremost, even if the levels are broken into such specific missions.
Graphics: It's grey war! No real complaints, it feels much like a gritty, dark battle in Europe. The gore factor isn't very high like a Soldier of Fortune game, even though it does keep track of body location in your shooting. The scenery is nicely done, if uneven in it's response to being abused by gunfire.
Sound: Excellent sound, and it can get real loud when the crap is hitting the bunker. The German language of the soldiers is done very well, and it can be eerie listening to a Wehrmacht officer torturing a prisoner, or whispering around the corner. The classical score is actually very good in the intro's, and adds to the cinematic feel.
Suggestions: Good God, why not have a way to save the game within a level? This is the largest fault of the gameplay as some missions take quite some time to complete. But no walking away, and if your killed, your at the beginning.

Overall: Finally a game better than Halo! Ok just kidding but seriously this game can hold its own. If you're a WWII junky this game is definately for you. Everything is very authentic has a 1940s war feel. The level design is great although the graphics could be significantly better. The weapons are very nice, and have been selected from WWII. I just love those !&%$@#* weapons. AI in the game suffers although there are lapses when the germans actually are smart. I've seen a guy kick a grenade towards me with his foot and other times you will shoot a buddy and the guy next to him doesn't do a thing. Overall the game does well what it tries to achieve, give you an authentic WWII feel.
Gameplay: The controls on this game take a few minutes to get used to. There is a setup simular to HALO, however, it doesn't work as the aiming function is used too frequently and works differently than in halo where it's push and release and here it is hold. Also I love the fact that there is no crosschairs on the screen at all times, I think it's a nice touch of realism by the developers. You can put it on if you actually aim at which point you can't really move, just bend here and there, also a great touch of realism. I think this game does a great job achieving a level of realism that often is absent from FPS games.
Graphics: The graphics without a doubt could be better, however, I don't think they are as bad as everyone says. I think there is a wide range of graphics in this game, some being excellent and some not very good. For instance, in the first level, the taking of normandy beach when you look at the bunkers you see german shadows that stand still, this is an obvious example of bad graphics. Later on, in the village please direct your attention towards the smoke rising up in the air when you're up and above in the church, the graphics truly look spectacular. Overall they could def be better, but they're not nearly as bad as PS2 which I have played.
Sound: This is one section where I think the game excels beyond any other. I think the sound is outstanding, all the guns sound great, as do explosions. I was amazed with how well they were able to recreate war sounds from inside buildings as well as outside. The bomb droppings sound right on. I think the sound is flawless.
Suggestions: Definately make the AI better. Expand the levels, so they are not so linear. Allow more flexibility with movements. Allow driving vehicles and flying planes. Also allow to kill your own soldiers like in HALO.

Overall: This game has very high production value. The levels are large and full of scriped events. The controls are similar to halo but don't give you the option to adjust the speed of your look controls and the defalt is a bit on the slow side, but overall the game is quite good
Gameplay: If you like enjoy the subject matter and 3d shooter this game is for you, if you can get past the ps2 visuals. playing mohf is like controling the action of a great war movie.
Graphics: Low detail and washed out looking not even close to xbox standard.Though the game does have many varied location and and does a good job making the levels seem like war torn europe
Sound: Exelent the d day landing sounds almost as good as the one in saving private ryan the weapons also pack a nice punch and the german solders are talking german not english with bad german acsents. This game should be played with a good 5.1 system

Gameplay: Great Storyline. I popped the top off a Japanese soldier from what seemed to be 6 miles out with the sniper rifle. Cool Weapons. Interesting levels that are based on actual events.
Graphics: The graphics weren't too bad, but could have been alot better for the Xbox. That Damn PS2 port just doesn't work on the xbox. Graphics need a little work.

Gameplay: As i said this game was rushed and it shows, it would help if it had a layout like halo or something more simple so i dont have to keep looking at the book for which button to press.
Graphics: The graphics in this game, well sucked, the explosions were horibly done and 2d, sometimes like in the first level i would be walking across the beach front and see guys stuck cause the engine wasnt that good.
Sound: sound was the best part in this game by far cause nothing would cut eachothers sound out or drown another sound out.

Overall: I love WWII FPS games. I loved this one, but it was over WAYYYY too quickly. The game was fun, challenging and can really pull you in, but there isn't much here.
Gameplay: I was floored from the first scene! What a way to start a game, but the overall game only covers about three months. It would be great to at least make it to Christmas '44, say around Bastogne. But "NUTS", it ends way before that. The ability to crouch and duck is handy, but impossible in vehicles (truck beds). It took no time at all to get used to the controller and I was able to react without fumbling within minutes. Trying not to give anything away, but the solution to "Golden Lion" is hilarious, even if I figured it out purely by accident! And don't shoot everything at moves, or you'll find a local civilian in your cross hairs. The end of each level shows your shot statistics, how many head shots you made, torso, right and left arm, and ... uh ... groin shots, hit percentages as well as how many times you get hit. One annoyance, though: Since when did German soldiers carry ammunition for my BAR? Or store a cluster of American hand grenades in the trunk of their Kubelwagens? Or can a bi pod-mounted machine gun take out a tank with a few turret shots? I realize it's a light tank, but c'mon! That's very accommodating of them.
Graphics: Where did all the corpses go? This is the only game I've played, so far, that the dead vanish into thin air! At least they're nice enough to leave their ammo and first aid behind. The scenes are great! The Dutch towns resemble what I would think a Dutch town would look like. The countryside is very convincing.
Sound: The sounds don't overwhelm the game; I always turn off the music on every game, though - too distracting. But some the same tired voice loops get VERY annoying. For example, in Arnhem, "Look, there's another one! Halloooooo!!" is recurring in my sleep now! It must be because I turned the music off, but the piano player must be playing for himself or he's wearing headphones...
Suggestions: Leave the dead where they drop. This isn't a "Star Trek" episode, after all. And give me more levels! Get us to the Bulge, at least.
