Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell

Overall: Splinter Cell is not a game for everybody. Most "casual" gamers don't enjoy playing stealth games and go for all out action. The stealth genre has not got a great deal of members and the two most popular competitors are Splinter Cell And Metal Gear. Splinter Cell is by far the better of the two without having to wait through enormous hour long cutscenes to keep up with a story line that constantly reminds you that you are playing a video game. Splinter cell is a realsitic game where you take the role of Sam Fisher a veteran spy that has a wide variety of stealth moves and gadgets shadow is your only ally on the field and this makes the game both tense and exiting.

Gameplay: Slinter Cell is based around stealth and anybody not interested in the genre should back away now as action and shooting is very rare. Shadows are the only way to get past the enemy and if you are sighted it is often just a case of waiting for your death. Instead of going into a first person view whilst aiming Splinter Cell uses a clever technique of looking over Sam's shoulder, another thing different is your aiming abilities, Sam doesn't shoot directly in the centre of the aiming icon making it very tense as missing may be the last thing you do. Sam uses gadgets, stealth and tactics to get past the enemy and this game is a must for hardcore gamers that are good at every game this is one that won't be too easy! The one bad point is that when you die you have to go back a long way due to the in frequent checkpoints this a very frustrating thing that can often result in you taking a long break so that you don't have to do th same thing yet again. Aside from this Splinter Cell is a great game!

Graphics: Shadow and lighting is perfect, faces look real and the great graphics make this feel like an even more realistic game. One of the greatest games for graphics out today if not the greatest!

Audio: There is nothing wrong with the sound at all. Tense music plays constantly and when it changes your heart skips a beat as you know somebody has spotted you. Footsteps grow louder as the distance between you and the enemy grows shorter and this makes you almost as fearful as you would be in reality. 1st class!

Suggestions: Make the sequel have quick saves and multiplayer.

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 Halo: Combat Evolved

Overall: It is hard to say exactly what is good about Halo because it has very few things that most first person shooters don't have, the reason it is good is because of how much effort they put into perfecting every aspect of the game. Halo is without a doubt my favourite game and even though it was a release title it can still compete extremely well with games that come out now. An amazing game with a very promising sequel!

Gameplay: Every part of Halo has been perfected in such a way that even when you have completed it you will want to do it again. The difficulty settings are perfect playing on easy is makes you feel like an indestructible soldier, this difficulty requires no tactics and is fun if you just can't be bothered using stealth. Legendary (the hardest difficulty) is a completly different story. Most enemies can kill you quite easily and running out into the open guns blazing will result in nothing but your own death. Tactics fans will enjoy Legendary and those who have completed other difficulty settings will just do it for the sake of completing it. Some people only make there way through Legendary to see the bonus movie at the end but this is enough motivation to make you go through the insanely difficult task. Gamers in between these two states can still have fun on othyer difficulty settings so Halo is a game for everyone whether pioliting vehicles or shooting everything in sight Halo is a game for everyone. Because the single player game is so good you would think that multiplayer wouldn't have much effort put into it but this an extremly fun experience whether you are in the mood for a one on one or a 16 player bloodbath. The icing on the cake is the co-operative mode where you and a friend can battle your way through the single player game!

Graphics: Halo no longer has the greatest graphics ever but it still has great graphics. With photo realistic textures on trees, grass, rocks and metal the graphics are great. The marines enemies and vehicles look great too but the one flaw Halo has in visual is lighting. It is not particularly bad but it could be better. But apart from that Halo has great visuals and still is better than most games today!

Audio: The sound on Halo is great. The music put in is perfect for the mood but if you think you know a song better than what they put in there is the option to copy music onto the game. The explosions sound realistic as do the gunshots and a marine will let you know if he is in trouble. The enemies as well scream in ain and the weakest enemies (grunts) will squeal in ain and fear as you hunt them down the sound could not be much better and bungie did a great job!

Suggestions: Make Halo 2 include bots for multiplayer and try to imrove every aspect of an already great game!

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War

Overall: I am not blessed with Xbox Live and (as playing the game on one player is a repetitive boring experience)I can't enjoy this game. The graphics are nothing special but the game is blessed with decent sound.

Gameplay: The single player game is a very boring game the A.I rarely runs for cover and instead stands waiting for you. You can only have so much fun shooting things mindlessly and it took very little time for it to grow tiresome to me. The storyline has no depth and you will often spend a long time attepting some of the later battles which can be very difficult.

Graphics: The graphics are not the best in the world but they also are not the worst. There are games with graphics not as good as this but a lot are better.

Audio: The sounds are quite authentic and guns sound realistic. Unfortunately sound is really all the game has going for it, not the greatest reason to buy a game.

Suggestions: Don't use all your time making Xbox Live perfect...put some effort into single player instead of making it a bonus included with an game based entirely on Xbox Live.
