Microsoft announces 'OneDrive' app for Xbox One

From Xbox Wire:

Today the OneDrive team announced worldwide availability of OneDrive – including new features that will let you get more out of the new OneDrive app on Xbox One.  The updated app will roll out for Xbox, Windows Phone, iOS and Android to connect all of your content seamlessly across all of your devices.

In case you haven’t had a chance to use it yet, OneDrive is the perfect way to share your greatest gaming moments on Xbox One. The process is painless: just use Game DVR to capture epic moments of gaming, edit and personalize them in the Upload Studio and use OneDrive to share them with the Xbox community or beyond on Facebook, YouTube or any other site you can imagine.

OneDrive also lets you take your gaming clips on the go to ensure bragging rights are always in the palm of your hand. Since the cloud is with you anywhere, you can pull up your latest battle or racing scene and show your friends right from your phone or tablet.

With OneDrive, you can also play slideshows of all your albums and photos right from the console and any videos you have stored play instantly. And with auto-upload now on Android as well as iOS and Windows Phone, OneDrive takes you to the pictures immediately and lets you browse them on your TV, no wait times involved.

Also new to OneDrive on Xbox One are achievements for milestone moments in the app. Here’s a few of the achievements you can earn:

  • Week one winner – Open OneDrive on Xbox One in the first week
  • Week one wizard – Play 20 photos in a slideshow from your camera roll in the first week
  • Hope those aren’t all selfies… – View 10 photos from your camera roll
  • Long exposure – View 100,000 photos
  • On a roll – Watch five hours of slideshows
  • Now you’re thinking with folders – Add a shared folder to OneGuide

But how much cloud storage does OneDrive give you? When you get a OneDrive account you get 7 GB of free storage. Today, there is a new program where OneDrive customers can go from 7 GB up to 15 GB for free by enabling their camera roll backup (3 GB) and inviting their friends (up to 5 GB in 500 MB increments).

Also, as a celebration of the launch, the OneDrive team will be giving
100,000 lucky people 100 GB of complimentary storage for one year. That’s enough to store 3,400 1-minute game clips or roughly 44,000 photos!* To learn more about the promotion follow @OneDrive.

Beginning today, you’ll also notice the refreshed app name on your console. Be sure to check it out and learn more about OneDrive at www.onedrive.com!
