Spencer: Don't panic, Halo news is definitely coming for E3 2014
Halo news will be coming at E3 this year, confirmed Microsoft Studios boss Phil Spencer today via Twitter.
The confirmation is entirely unsurprising, although exactly what this “Halo news” will be is still up for speculation.
In early January Microsoft’s senior manager for the Halo and Forza Motorsport franchises assured Halo fans to “[r]est assured your next Halo journey WILL begin in 2014.”
In February, Master Chief voice actor Steve Downes was reported outing an anniversary edition of Halo 2 for a 2014 launch and mentioning not to anticipate a Halo 5 until 2015 but Downes later distanced himself from this alleged statement. A Microsoft spokesperson reiterated to IGN the "next Halo journey will begin in 2014, but beyond that we dont have any details to share at this time."
A new Halo was initially teased at E3 2013 with no official title. Details are scant but it will run at 60 frames per second, have dedicated servers for multiplayer, and is being helmed by former Tomb Raider (the 2013 reboot) and Star Wars: Republic Commando creative director Timothy Longo.
