Price of Xbox Live Going Up in Canada
We know that in 2016 Sony upped the price of their online service (PSN). In canada that price raised from $49.99 to $69.99. It was a $10 more increase than those who get the equivilent service in the U.S., and the raise in price was not fully explained, if at all.
Well, it seems that Microsoft is now upping the Canadian subscription for XBL. One of our editor’s here at XBA got the following email:
"As a valued Xbox Live Gold member, we’d like to thank you for being part of the Live community. After carefully evaluating the currency changes within Canada, and with the understanding that our offerings always provide a balance of service and value for our customers, we will be adjusting the price of our Xbox Live Gold subscriptions.
As such, the price of your Xbox Live Gold subscription will be increasing. As of February 28, 2017, the price of your 12-month Xbox Live Gold subscription will increase from $59.99 CAD to $69.99 CAD. If your subscription is currently set to auto-renew before February 28, 2017, you will be charged the current price at the time of your next scheduled auto-renewal. If your subscription is currently set to auto-renew after February 28, 2017, you will be charged the new price at the time of your next scheduled auto-renewal."
So there you have it fellow Canadians, time to dig a bit deeper into your wallet as XBL is now on par with PSN’s higher price in Canada.
We don’t know if this has changed in retail stores yet either, so feel free to head into your local ’brick and mortar" store, and if the Xbox Live cards are still $59.99 you may just want to pick up one or two to save a few bucks.
