Guitar Hero 5 Track Importing Details

 Activision is giving the fans what they’ve been wanting for a long time now -- the option to import songs they already own into the next iteration of Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero. Today we’ll look at all of the gritty details through a little Q&A we’ve cooked up based on the info Activision has sent our way.

How do I import my songs into Guitar Hero 5?
When you put your Guitar Hero 5 disc in, it will download a patch and all of the Guitar Hero World Tour downloadable tracks you have already purchased will automatically show up in the playlist.
 -There will be an option in the game to import songs from other discs. Selecting it will walk you through the process.

Which platforms will this work on?
Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii owners will have the option to import songs.

How much will it cost?
 Downloadable tracks purchased for Guitar Hero World Tour will work with Guitar Hero 5 at no extra charge. For importing disc-based songs from World Tour, there will be, "a small charge to cover the licensing costs of using these songs from the original game." No specific cost has been given as the deals are still being worked out.

Which songs can be imported?
 152 out of the 158 Guitar Hero World Tour downloadable tracks will work across both games. "Some" songs from the Guitar Hero World Tour and Guitar Hero Smash Hits can be imported into both Band Hero and Guitar Hero 5. No specifics on which songs won’t support this feature have been given. IGN has been told that more deals are still in the works.

Can I rent a game and then import the songs from there without buying World Tour or Smash Hits?
 No. To import the songs, you will need a 20 digit Unique Owner ID that is printed on the back of the manual of the game you are importing from.

Will imported songs work in all modes for Guitar Hero 5?
 Guitar Hero World Tour downloadable tracks and all disc-based imports will be updated to include new features such as band moments, star power overflow, and vocal star power when they are imported into Guitar Hero 5. They can be played in Party Play, Quickplay, Career, Practice and all competitive modes.

Can I only import some songs?
 On Xbox 360 and PS3, you must import all of the disc-based songs in one step. On Wii, you must purchase the package, but can then import only the songs you want. On all platforms, you are free to delete individual tracks or re-import them at no cost after purchasing it once.
