SSX Tricky

Overall: Having owned the original SSX on the original ssx in my days of owning a PS2 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I made an educated purchase and obtained a copy of SSX Tricky 2nd hand for ?10.
Instantly, the polished feel comes through with a thumping soundtrack, fast pace intros adding to the feeling of it being an SSX on Valium.

There are a few added modes to the original game but once you are presented with the character screen, a slight disappointment crosses as you realise that the characters are pretty much the same as the original crew.

The tracks are mostly again updated versions of the old tracks that (so you are told by the voice over of rahzel) that are supposedly so transformed with trick points and jumps that they are unrecognisable.

However much you try to kid yourself that they really are new tracks (there are a few, but just a few)you soon realise despite the cool additions, if you have owned or played the original SSX you will get the feeling you have traveled down that road before (excuse the pun).

Despite this, the addition of intuitive music to trick style gameplay and Uber tricks sending you mad do buzz up the game.

The fact that EA tried to defend this by saying SSX tricky was more of an update to the first rather than a brand new outright game is abolished by the fact they brought out SSX 3, denoting the second game was indeed a sequel.

Good game all round, gives just as many hours of play as the original but make sure you don't have to shell out top whack for it.

Gameplay: Fast paced, right from the start. Controls are easy to get to grips with and the game is able to convey a sense of speed well.

Graphics: Smooth graphics with a high frame rate most of the time. Can have tendencies to glitch if you know the right points, which shows the testing dpt. at ea hasn't been given enough coffee to keep them awake.

Audio: Same background tracks as before, but the intuitive tricky meter music fades in and out and slightly gains and decreases in pitch dependant on your trick meter and previous trick also. Very well grafted into part of the gamplay itself rather than just being another background sfx or music.

Suggestions: All in all, make sure sequels can claim and stand outright the ability to differentiate the game as the next game, not an updated churn-out.

Overall Score: 8.0 / 10 Fifa World Cup 2002

Overall: hmm. only bought it as it was $7 s/h. Its overall lack of polish shows that this is a quick rehash to cash in on the 2002 World Cup.

Gameplay: true to fifa, controls and gameplay are solid, responsive and fun. However, its far too easy, on any difficulty level. the computer AI has allot left to be desired.

Graphics: good crisp graphics. Played for quite a while now and no polygon errors or see-through bugs to be found.

Audio: commentary is average of any football game. You can always tell when teams/players names are quoted as there is a distinct pitch change. The music is top notch with some good current tracks.

Overall Score: 5.0 / 10 Medal of Honor: Frontline

Overall: 3rd in the series of the medal of Honor games, the not too distant traipse and kill is back but even more polished than ever. You can see that the first level has had alot (or most) of the effort put into it as you scramble for the beaches. The rest of the game does seem to slack off the further it gets into it but will still be a must for all of the medal of Honor fans out there.

Gameplay: true to the other medal of Honor style games, fast paced but slightly more tactical than the unreals of the world. Quite a few levels but way too easy to complete.

Graphics: Clean crisp xbox graphics, better than its PS2 counterpart. some jerkiness while speech is playing but other than that good frame rate.

Audio: what can I say? if you have a surround sound setup, you can identify where you allies or enemies are by listening for them rather than looking behind you, excellent!

Overall Score: 7.0 / 10 Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon

Overall: yet another tom Clancy game. One thing that strikes me as funny is that although they are good games, there is very little difference between them. I'm quite happy with just the 1 rather than the whole collection.

Gameplay: good solid rainbow six style gameplay. Can get a bit annoying in versus mode when your comp controlled blokes kill everyone before you get a chance to.

Graphics: clean and crisp visuals. good night vision effects and zooming is great with clear detail. View the perspective from any of you allies.

Audio: as to be expected from this type of game. Lots of bangs and crashes and allies shouting things. Nothing poor but nothing to jump up and down about either.

Overall Score: 7.0 / 10
