Curious Expedition 2 - Robots of Lux DLC

Robots of Lux

Curious Expedition 2 - Robots of Lux, developed by Maschinen-Mensch and published by Thunderful Publishing, is paid DLC content that introduces characters from SteamWorld Heist to the Curious Expedition 2 base game. Robotic pirates are now ready to meet with existing steampunk universe in Curious Expedition 2. Players can now choose Piper Faraday as a leader for their expeditions as well as having access to a new naturalist who can tame almost all wildlife on the islands you explore. The naturalist's ability will really change the interactions in the game.

You will be able to gain entry to the Old Theatre in Paris, where you can access three new characters. These are Billy Gill, Valentine Butterbolt and the Yeti. There is also a new animal to recruit, the Robot Chameleon. New equipment includes the Shield Belt, Plasma Spider and PR3-S5 as well as two pieces of pack animal equipment, the Tesla Coil and Buzz Saw. Seven items also included are a Prototype Remote Control, battery, field kitchen, EdiBot map, coffee, coffee beans and artificial meals.

Gameplay is consistent with the original game, and you can read my initial review HERE. It's easy to understand and engaging. All the original mechanics are there such as the sanity bars and rolling dice for making moves. As someone not particularly familiar with SteamWorld Heist, I spent some time looking at YouTube videos and firmly believe that if you are a fan of that game, you will get much more out of the Robots of Lux DLC as you have more familiarity than I did. For DLC focusing on robots, I was disappointed to see there were no new islands based around robots. I thought this was something that would have been a nice add on.

The Robots of Lux DLC adds some interesting content to an already engaging game and fans of either title should find something entertaining here.
