Batman Vengeance Box artUbiSoft Batman Vengence

We talk to Martin Carrier and Reid Schneider about UbiSoft's title called "Batman Vengence" for the Xbox and few other Next-Gen consoles.

Q: XBA: Thank you for taking the time to talk with us and our loyal memebers. What is your names and positions at UbiSoft?

A: UbiSoft: My name is Martin Carrier, I am the comunications and public affairs director from the Montreal office.

Q: XBA: Same question, for you.

A: UbiSoft(2): My name is Reid Schneider, I'm the senior producer of the Batman Vengence project.

Q: XBA: What titles are you guys releasing for the Xbox?

A: UbiSoft_Martin: Batman Vengence - December 2001, Rayman Arena - May 2002, Tom Cancy's Ghost Recon - May 2002 and Largo Winch - 2002.

Q: XBA: Largo Winch?

A: UbiSoft_Martin: Ya, Largo Winch is a belgian BD character from Dupuis. He is a very sexy millionnaire in a fascinating universe for young adults.

Q: XBA: Interesting, Why choose the Xbox?

A: UbiSoft_Martin: Obviously it's a great time to be making video games, we want to delivery the best experiences, and the best way to do that is to bring those to all the consoles, and the Xbox is one of them. Additionally, it's a great platform to develop on.

Q: XBA: Please give a breif description of Batman Vengance.

A: UbiSoft_Reid: Batman Vengence is based on the new Batman Adventures animated series. The game is an action/adventure game with a strong focus on platform gaming. It has a deep compelling story, we just didn't want to make a stright "beat'em up" type of game, we think that what will keep gamers interested. The storyline was written directly with the editors and script writters of DC Comics. You actually be able in the game take control the batmobile, batplane...so it's a cool long game as well. We think the the fans of the series they'll really get into it. And the will have a different look than the game coming out now.

Q: XBA: What special features does the Xbox version have different from the PS2 version?

A: UbiSoft_Reid: Batman Vengence on the Xbox will run at 60 frames per second, instead of 30 as it does on the PS2 at this point in time. This is really advantageous in the fighting scenes, things move along quicker.

Q: XBA: What will the storyline be about in Batman Vengence?

A: UbiSoft_Reid: You start things off on the roof of a building a you must save a women that is tied to a bomb. So, immediately you'll catch on that this is darker game.

Q: XBA: What Batman characters will be in the game?

A: UbiSoft_Reid: The Joker, Bat Girl, Poison Ivy, Mr Freeze and all their assistants and we've created a few new characters for the game so expect a few surprises.

Q: XBA: Please give a breif description of Rayman Arena.

A: UbiSoft_Martin: Rayman is based a UbiSoft character, it kindda like what Mickey Mouse is to Disney Studios. It is a multiplayer game that incorporates two different and distinct modes of gameplay – Race Mode and Battle Mode.

Q: XBA: Please give a breif description of Tom Cancy's Ghost Recon.

A: UbiSoft_Martin: If you've enjoyed Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear, you'll just love Ghost Recon. [Chantal Cloutier] In this new Tom Clancy Franchise, you take command of "The Ghosts", an elite squad of military personnel equipped with cutting edge in waeponry. Whenever there is a military conflict, the Ghosts are the first on the ground !

Q: XBA: Does Tom Clancy's have any direct involvement with the game?

A: UbiSoft: Yes and no, as far as the development goes no, but for the final approval he has to give us the final ok in it.

Q: XBA: Will this be like Rogue Spear in any way?

A: UbiSoft_Martin: Rogue Spear is a game where you fight terrorism where as Ghost Recon is a military simulation type of game.

Q: XBA: What do you think of the overall "buzz" of the Xbox?

A: UbiSoft_Martin: If you're into video games you gotta love, are at a new day one in game...and to be par of the action very exciting, what better time to make games! Their are so many great games out there!

Q: XBA: Same question.

A: UbiSoft_Reid: I think the industry is quickly expanding, you have such a wide selection of titles out there to choose from. It's a great feeling.

We like to thank Martin and Reid of UbiSoft to taking the time from their busy schedules to take to us Xbox Addicts.
