Lost Planet 2 Rewards You for Not Selling It
Lost Planet 2 has found a clever way to encourage keeping the game, at least for Achievement and Trophy junkies. Andriasang noticed the "Honeymoon Period" Achievement and Trophy (called "Running Through 6" in Japan). It awards 20 gamerscore, or a bronze Trophy, for "celebrating your six month anniversary" with the game. Unsurprisingly, people have found a way to game the system and get the reward by altering the system clock; but anyone who has it already is certain to have cheated to get it.
We’ve seen a rash of developers looking for ways to deal with the used games market, like EA’s trend of first buyer-exclusive DLC that has evolved into the sports franchises’ Online Pass. Capcom’s move with Lost Planet 2 is comparatively light, but we’re bound to see more developers and publishers trying to tackle the used game market in unique ways.
