Forza Horizon December IGN Car Pack available now

Forza Motorheads, your monthly fix has arrived, as the December IGN Car Pack for Horizon is now upon us.  It’s officially gaming Christmas.

Here are the details courtesy of John Schommer, Content Coordinator at Turn 10 Studios:

If collecting cars is your thing then you gotta love Forza Horizon DLC. Each month we offer a wide variety of new rides to add to your garage. The December IGN Car pack does just that. In addition to the sample car that is always free we offer six new cars that are all special in their own way.

This month we have something special to celebrate the release of one of the most popular Xbox titles of all time, some classic American Muscle, the most durable and hefty off-roader ever, a new-to-Forza Ferrari, and more.

Check out the trailer here.

2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Halo Edition

Celebrating the November 6 release of Halo 4, this Ford Raptor is tough enough for Master Chief and comes with a custom UNSC paint job, designed by the creators of Halo 4, 343 Industries. If you love the Halo series this special edition liveried Raptor is a must have. The detail of the design is intense and the performance of the SVT Raptor is in a league of its own.

2008 Aston Martin DBS

Aston Martin’s Ulrich Bez sums up the DBS as “brutal, but dressed in a black tie.” It’s no wonder that, previous to the car’s release, it was driven by Daniel Craig in “Casino Royale.” A new Bond in the new DBS was fitting, since the original DBS made its initial appearance in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” in 1969. The new DBS effectively replaced the top-of-the-line Vanquish and, in its time. It was faster than any Aston before it. Thanks to a massaged 510 horsepower V-12, a clean air splitting body kit, and a significant lightening, the DBS is ready for the track. This is no stripped-down street racer, though. It is layered in luxurious leather, alcantara and high tech materials throughout. Carbon fiber is used wherever possible and every component has been engineered. No details have been left unattended.

2012 Ferrari F12berlinetta

Ferrari’s fastest road car ever is also a car that you can be your daily driver. That is, if you can afford a car of this nature. The F12berlinetta is so refined, so exquisitely engineered, that it will handily beat an Enzo or 599 GTO on the track. The 730 bhp and 509 lb-ft of torque are delivered in a manner that is calculated and smooth to the point of simplicity. That’s not to say its 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds or its top speed of 211 mph is any less exciting, it just means that the fun factor translates into a slightly more GT-like feel than that of a track car. This V-12 sounds superb from idle to redline, and its power delivery is ferocious at any RPM. While you will of course want to rev it to the max, 90 percent of the available power is put to the wheels as low as 2000 RPM. Practicality in the fastest Ferrari road car ever? Absolutely. Absolutely incredible!

2006 Ford GTX1

Built specifically for the 2006 SEMA show, the Ford GTX1 was crafted by Mark Gerisch of Genaddi Design. Styled after the 1966 Sebring-winning Ford GTX roadster, Gerisch’s creation offers a functional and innovative roof system comprised of four hard panels that can be configured as a T-top, coupe, full convertible, or propped to provide ventilation. The rear clamshell showcases the nearly 550 horsepower 5.4 liter supercharged V-8, while just behind the engine two buttresses flow dramatically rearward. The look that is created takes the Ford GT body to an exotic new level. The GTX comes with a Borla exhaust and a litany of SEMA-member company products.

2006 Hummer H1 Alpha Open Top

So long as practicality is not part of the argument, the Hummer H1 is unquestionably the most dominant and capable off-road vehicle ever created. Demanding attention from any passerby, this unapologetic behemoth was never intended to be made for the masses. At 7,500 pounds, it will win almost any battle of inertia with other cars, or simply drive over them. For 2006, power output was upped to 300 horses and the transmission got an extra gear. Does that mean it gets better mileage? If that question is even on your mind regarding the Hummer H1, it’s not for you. Acceleration is improved over the preceding model, but conquering any terrain before it at a lumbering pace is where the H1 excels. In its open top version you can let the sun shine in as you crush anything in your path.

1993 McLaren F1

Conceived by Gordon Murray to bring Bruce McLaren’s dream of a McLaren road car to life, the McLaren F1 took more than 30 years to reach fruition. When it did, it surpassed all expectations and set speed records that held up longer than imaginable. With its central driver seat and 6.1 liter, 627 horsepower BMW built V-12, the F1 name is fitting. A top speed of 240 mph from the factory made it the fastest production car in the world – and it’s still the fastest naturally aspirated car ever created. The car’s million dollar price tag also made it the most expensive at the time. In five years of production only 107 were ever built including prototypes and special editions, far from the goal of 300, which is perhaps the only failure that can be associated with the F1. It is one of the supreme supercars of all time.

1971 AMC Javelin-AMX

When the pony cars of its era were getting bigger, the Javelin-AMX fit right in. No longer a unique model, the AMX became a décor and option group for the Javelin—the car that the AMX was based on. Capitalizing on the recent wins of Mark Donahue driving a Javelin in the SCCA Trans Am Series, AMC sought to ingrain more performance into their perceived brand identity. With the AMX package and the 401 V8, the Javelin AMX came alive. It was advertised as having 330 hp and could achieve mid 14s in the quarter mile. What really makes the 1971 Javelin stick out are its bulging fender arches, intended to emulate the look of the Corvette. There are some hardcore fans of AMC out there, and some people just have to have something different. For either group, the Javelin AMX is a classic muscle car and one of the last of its kind before the fuel crisis of the early 1970s killed the notion all together.

The Forza Horizon December IGN Car Pack will be available Tuesday, December 4. Each car is available for 240 MS Points or you can pick up the whole pack for 400 MS points. The 1971 AMC Javelin-AMX is this month’s free sample car. In addition, check out a brand new set of Community Rivals Mode events coming on December 4. To give them a shot, head over to “Race Central” at the Horizon Festival, select “Rivals” and then go to the “Monthly Rivals” section.

The December IGN Car Pack will be automatically available to owners of the “Forza Horizon” Season Pass. The Season Pass offers instant access to six monthly car packs for Forza Horizon, through April 2013, as well as access to the Forza Horizon Rally Expansion Pack, coming on December 18. The Forza Horizon Season Pass is available on Xbox LIVE for 4,000 MS Points, and also includes access to five exclusive cars delivered on a monthly basis through April 2013.
