October Artist Of The Month
Augustana are a young band, having just released their major label debut, All the Stars and Boulevards, on September 6, but they have been successfully touring all summer with bands like the Goo Goo Dolls and Counting Crows. With moving vocals and powerful instrumentals, Augustana stands out from today’s pop music with a classic, accessible sound. Characterized by beautiful melodies that are often driven by haunting piano lines, Augustana has drawn favorable comparisons to monster piano rockers Coldplay. Driven by excellent reviews, a top 20 video on VH1 for their hit single "Boston," and a sold out special edition CD at Best Buy, Augustana have proven to be a band to take seriously. A simple and classic success story, Augustana was founded by frontman Dan Layus at Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois. Before graduating, Layus decided to take his shot at fame and moved to Los Angeles.
